The holiday season is finally upon us, and while this time of year can be hectic, there are several holiday events that you and your family can enjoy. The following is a list of some of the most popular events that we are looking forward to attending, and hope you are too!
Holiday Performances at the UCCC: Greeley, Colorado
The Union Colony Civic Center is host to some world-class talent during the holiday season. Some performances featured this year include the “The Nutcracker” by Colorado Dance Theater, The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and a performance by Francesca Battistelli, a grammy nominated singer/songwriter. As a witness to some of these shows in the past, I can confidently say that the performances will not disappoint. For a complete list of shows, dates and fees, visit ucstars.com.
The Dasher 5K/ Tinsel Tavern Tour: Estes Park, Colorado
Burn off a few leftover Thanksgiving calories by running in the Dasher 5K in Estes Park. The Dasher 5K is a family event which includes a 400 meter race for the kiddos! The course begins on Macgregor Ave. and winds through the beautiful town of Estes and finishes at the Town Hall. The race starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 12. Stick around after the race to explore downtown Estes Park shops, decorations and restaurants.
For a more “grown-up” event, check out the Tinsel Tavern Tour. This event kicks off at 6:00 PM with live entertainment, appetizers, a costume contest and finishes with a tour of some of Estes Park’s favorite pubs. Grab a group of friends, dress up and enjoy a night out on the town that you will remember for years to come! Visit Estes Park’s site for more information about the events and registration for each.
Denver Zoo Lights: Denver, Colorado
Take a trip to the Denver Zoo this holiday season for a unique and fun experience for the whole family. A total of 70 acres of the campus is lit up with thousands of lights. Experience the zoo like you never have before with lit up animal sculptures, nightly events, animal encounters, and of course, meet and greets with a special guest (aka Santa Claus.) This event lasts from December 4th through January 3rd and starts every night at 5;30 PM and closes at 9:00 PM. For information regarding ticket prices and special events, visit the Denver Zoo website.
There are hundreds more smaller events, that are always a good time around the Northern Colorado area. Let us know what some of your favorite events to attend are!
